The Pakistani press has been having a field day with the accusations that the Mossad did it, that they warned all Jews to get out ahead of time, etc. Of course all this stuff was discredited almost the moment it was first invented, but that hasn't stopped the Pak press from being rather one-sided (ie, antisemitic) about it. Personally, I can't say I'm offended, given the fact that it's not surprising that young people in pakistan would reflect the messages they're hearing from both their media and the adults in their lives. The question I keep asking myself is, is this a teachable moment. For us in America, certainly, but are we in a position to somehow generate a dialogue with these students that could be done in a way that doesn't blow up in your hands. perhaps you've been doing this already. But certainly the letters could serve as powerful tools for US kids to understand that perfectly normal, educated kids in another part of the world could have a perspective that is so different than ours. ac
